The training philosophy behind Hodges Health and Performance, LLC. is very much shaped by the concept of “Telos”. Ancient Greeks viewed the concept of “telos" as a thing’s purpose or end. It points to a state where something’s nature and reason for existence is fulfilled or actualized. In other words, something’s “telos” points towards the fulfillment of what something was created to do or be. It is the end state or reason for being that defines the nature for what someone or something is created for. One can not understand the nature of the acorn without going to the Oak Tree.
This concept has greatly influenced the training philosophy being Hodges Health and Performance, LLC. We are not defined by our present state, or where we are at a particular chapter in life. Our struggles, injuries, and setbacks do not define our true nature. It is where we are going and more importantly, what we are intended for, that defines our true nature. This concept is instrumental in shaping not just our vision on wellness, but in our faith and worldviews as well.
The thrust behind Hodges Health and Performance, LLC is to help bring people into the realization of a better tomorrow and attaining desired goals, despite any challenges and difficulties there may be. Whether it’s peak athletic performance, injury recovery, or weight loss your tomorrow can be realized and the hard work of the journey can start now!
I have been an athlete all my life and blessed to play tennis up to the NCAA level. I have enjoyed an active life of sports, surfing, martial arts, and weight lifting. In the early part of my career, I was blessed to work with athletes and coaches of the highest caliber. I received great mentoring from veteran trainers and coaches and enjoyed working with high performance athletes in both the University and Academy settings.
In 2014, I experienced a life changing event. My L-3, L-4 vertebrae ruptured, rendering my legs painfully incapable of properly functioning. I underwent emergency surgery to repair the damage and inhibit any further neurological impairment from developing. The recovery has been continuous to this day and it has changed my appreciation and outlook on fitness, well-being, and training.
I have developed empathy and passion to use my knowledge and experience as both an athlete and trainer to bless others’ lives with encouragement and guidance to reach their aspired health and wellness goals. I have a real passion to help instill hope in others and encourage them to not only dream for a better tomorrow, but be the best version of themselves. I strive to help others see that they were made for more than just their current circumstances and can find new life and hope in their tomorrow!
